Souq Shari’at Al Dhaid

An Elevated Souq Inspired by Rich Heritage

Al-Dhaid Fort is a testament to the ancient history of the city of Al-Dhaid, which formed a prosperous oasis with fresh water, fruitful palms, and defensive buildings that provide security and safety for its residents. The fort, which dates back to the year 1820, consists of a square-shaped building, 32 meters long and 26 meters wide, and includes a number of rooms that have been converted into exhibition halls that contain a group of historical exhibits of the city of Al Dhaid and its heritage.

The market was built near Shariat Al Dhaid, which was a station where caravans rested and were supplied with water and food. It is one of the most important falajs in Al Dhaid. Where Shari’at Al Dhaid was the meeting point and the place to supply water and food before continuing to leave.
The fort includes a market located at the back of the fort. It was built entirely of daun and timber with an advanced design that takes into account safety and security standards without changing the traditional architectural style of the building. The Souq consists of dozens of shops that vary between restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and shops dedicated to the people of Al Dhaid, in which they sell their local, household and heritage products. It also includes two seatings for visitors at the middle entrance to the market
